STEP 01
Get your free API key
Go to console.anthropic.com, sign up free, go to API Keys and click Create Key. Copy the key. Back here, click "Set API Key" at the top right, paste it, click Save. Done — you only do this once per device. You get $5 free credit to start, which is enough for hundreds of uses.
STEP 02
Paste your resume
Copy your full resume as plain text and paste it into the left box. Include everything — your summary, all work experience with bullet points, skills, education, and certifications. The more complete it is, the better the output will be.

Paste the job description
Find any job posting — LinkedIn, Indeed, a company's website, anywhere. Select all the text and paste it into the right box. Include the job title, responsibilities, required qualifications, and preferred qualifications. The more you include, the more precisely matched your documents will be.

Click Generate and review
Click the purple Generate button. It takes about 20 seconds. Two boxes appear — your cover letter on the left, your optimized resume on the right. Read both. Make any edits you want directly in the boxes. Click Copy on each one, then paste into your application.

Check anything marked [VERIFY]
Claude never invents experience, job titles, or credentials. It only reframes what you gave it. When it strengthens a bullet point or estimate, it adds [VERIFY] so you know to double-check that specific part before submitting.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
Include the full job posting — not just the title. The responsibilities and "preferred qualifications" sections have the keywords that matter most for getting past automated screening.
Use your complete resume — including older roles. Claude decides what to highlight based on the job. More information means better tailoring.
Run it for each application — paste a different job description each time you apply somewhere new. Every output is uniquely matched to that role.
Edit the "why this company" paragraph — Claude makes a reasonable guess at why you want to work there. Replace it with your real reason for the strongest result.
